Locke and Key Cancelled

May 13th, 2011

Unfortunately it seems that Locke and Key is not to be picked up by Fox according to Shock Till You Drop, Fox is notorious for cancelling shows early on even after it’s picked up (Firefly, Arrested Development as popular examples) but it’s sad that this series didn’t even get that far.

Although with great news Sarah is attached to a new movie! It’s called As Cool As I Am and it’s based on the novel by Peter Fromm.

Claire Danes and James Marsden star alongside Thomas Mann, Clark Gregg, Jeremy Sisto, Anika Noni Rose and Sarah Bolger in the film, about the teen daughter (Bolger) of self-centered parents (Danes and Marsden) who married too young and never had a chance to grow up themselves. Mann plays the daughter’s best friend, who comes to fall in love with her.

Apparently production has already started in New Mexico.

‘Connemara Days’ to film in summer

April 29th, 2011

Connacht Tribune has reported that Connemara Days is hopefully on target to film this summer. It was supposed to have been filmed in 2008 – though luckily Sarah is still attached to the project:

‘Connemara Days’ is a love story located on the set of ‘The Quiet Man’ and though Sir Roger Moore has been on board since it was first mooted 2008, the production has been dogged by lack of funding.

The film was originally meant to be shot over two years ago to mark the 60th anniversary of The Quiet Man in Galway and though it is practically fully cast with most of the pre production work already done, filming couldn’t go ahead until finance was in place.

“We are near enough finalising the finance for it and we should be on the streets of Cong this summer.

“The way the economy was it was difficult for us to secure funding for the project but we are hopeful that we will now be sticking to our schedule which includes a January 2012 release date,” he said.

Hopefully now that the economy has picked up a little they may be able to keep to schedule.

First ‘Locke and Key’ Still!

IFTAs

February 15th, 2011

Unfortunately Sarah didn’t win at the IFTAs this year for Best Supporting Actress on Television – it didn’t seem like she was attendence either. This is likely due to her involvement in the American series Locke & Key which is currently filming in Pittsburgh – which is very exciting as it seems that Sarah’s making her mark Stateside.

She’s also set to be awarded with the ‘Wilde Card’ at Oscar Wilde: Honoring the Irish in Film – so congradulations to her!

Also if you’ve got a twitter account, it seems that Sarah has a Twitter which you can view here if you wish to follow her. :)

Face of Ireland and IFTA 2011 Nominees

January 12th, 2011

Sarah was selected to be in photographer Kevin Abosch’s portfolio to represent a Face of Ireland along with the likes of Sinead O’Connor. Sarah must be proud to represent her country in such as way and shows the extent of her success in her homeland.

The ITFA nominees have been announced and Sarah has been nominated (yet again) in Actress in a Supporting Role – Television for her role as Mary Tudor in The Tudors. The best of luck to her!

‘Locke and Key’

December 18th, 2010

Sarah is set to have a new role in the form of Locke and Key, a television series based on a comic book.

Locke and Key is set against the backdrop of a creepy mansion in Lovecraft, Massachusetts where three children discover doors that take them to different places, give them powers and even alter gender and skin color. Behind one door is a dangerously violent creature.

Sarah is set to play one of the children.

‘Barnardos’ and ‘Meteor’ Christmas Appeal

November 18th, 2010

Barnardos and Meteor have set up a Christmas Appeal through the form of a text:

Text ‘Barnardos’ to 57502. Each text costs €2 to send and, according to the two organisations, every cent of this will go directly to those who need it most with Meteor waiving the costs involved in the process.

This will obviously help the charities a great way especially at such a difficult time as Christmas can be for some children. As Sarah is an ambassador for Barnardos I’m sure she’d appreciate donations too – I will be doing my bit and will text in.
